Analytical exposition merupakan salah satu jenis tulisan atau teks yang digolongkan ke dalam jenis argumentative essay. Maksudnya? Yaitu jenis teks yang berisikan tentang pendapat yang menguatkan isi dari tulisan yang penulis tulis.  

Pengertian analytical exposition dapat kita artikan sebagai sebuah teks yang menjelaskan secara menyeluruh tentang suatu masalah dengan melibatkan pendapat dari penulis tersebut. Sedangkan tujuan dari analytical exposition text sendiri adalah "to attempt to persuade the reader to believe something by presenting one side of the argument" yang artinya analytical exposition ini meyakinkan pembaca terhadap 'sesuatu' dengan memberikan satu sisi pendapat saja. Mari kita pelajari susunanya dan ciri-cirinya di bawah ini:

Generic Structure:

• Thesis : Sebagaimana jenis teks lainya, pada bagian ini berisi tentang sudut pandang penulis terhadap suatu permasalah yang ada secara sederhana agar lebih mudah dipahami.
• Argument : Pada bagian ini berisikan tentang penguatan-penguatan dari thesis yang masih dalam bentuk sederhana tadi yang berupa argumen-argumen agar para pembaca lebih yakin tentang keberadaan dari permasalahan yang diangkat oleh penulis
• Re-iteration : Kesimpulan dari apa yang telah dibahas atau mengungkapkan kembali apa yang telah dibahas dalam thesis.

Language Features: 

• Menggunakan simple present tense
• Menggunakan causal conjunction (as, after, as soon as, before, finally, dll)
• Menggunakan relational process (berkaitan)

CONTOH ANALYTICAL EXPOSITION 

Contoh 1

NUCLEAR POWER

There are three separate source of hazard in the process of supplying energy by nuclear power. The radioactive material must travel from its place of manufacture to the power station. Although the power station themselves are solidity, built, the container used for the transport of the material are not. There are normally two methods of transport available, namely road or rail. Unfortunately, both of this involve close contact with the general public, since the routes are sure to pass near, or even though, heavy populated areas. 

Next, there is problem of waste. All nuclear power station produce waste that the most cases will remain radioactive for thousand of years. It is impossible to make these wastes non radioactive, and so they must be stored in one of the inconvenient ways that the scientist have invented. For example, they may be buried under the ground, or dropped into abandoned mines, or sunk the sea. However, theses methods do not solve the problem, since the earthquake could easily crack the containers open. 

Finally, there is the problem of accidental exposure due to a leak or an explosion at the power station. As with the other two hazards, this is not very likely, so that is does not provide a serious objection to the nuclear program. Nevertheless, it can happen.

Separately, these three types of risk are not great cause for concern. On the whole through, the probability or disaster is still high.  

Contoh 2

THE DANGEROUS OF SMOKING

Until now there are still many people that keep smoking. But we think if everyone knows that smoking is dangerous for health. Why smoking is dangerous?

Before we are going to smoke, it’s better to look at the fact. A 2004 study by the CDC's National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion found that cigarette smoke contains over 4,800 chemicals, 69 of which are known to cause cancer. Nearly a quarter of smokers die because of diseases caused by smoking. Adult male smokers lose an average of 13.2 years of life and female smokers lose 14.5 years of life because of smoking, and given the diseases that smoking can cause, it can steal your quality of life long before you die.

Ninety percent of lung cancers are caused by smoking. Secondhand smoke also causes about 35,000 deaths from heart disease in people who are not smokers. If we smoke five cigarettes a day, we are six times more likely to die of lung cancer than a non-smoker. If we smoke twenty cigarettes a day, the risk is nineteen greater. Ninety five percent of people who suffer of bronchitis are people who are smoking. Smokers are two and half times more likely to die of heart disease than non-smokers.

Additionally, children of smoker are more likely to develop bronchitis and pneumonia. In one hour in smoky room, non-smoker breathes as much as substance causing cancer as if he had smoked fifteen cigarettes.

Smoking is not good for smokers and people around smokers. However smoking is very good for Cigarette Companies.  Because they have much money from smoking habit. However smoking is not good for everybody else
